SD France

Posted in: National Organizations

Susila Dharma France is a registered NGO with charitable tax status under French law. Its members are those who express a wish to do so and are contributing. The Chair of Subud France is, ex officio, a voting member of SD France's Board. The board meets four times a year to discuss proposals from projects, the ongoing support to projects and the running of the association.

The purpose of SD France is to relieve human suffering and promote just and sustainable development through:
  • Partnerships and support for grassroots, participatory development and humanitarian initiatives.
  • Empowering individuals and communities to engage in positive human, social and economic change.
  • Raising awareness of global issues and inter-dependence.
All monies are raised from the members of SD France.

In 2010 SD France spent 29,033 € on grants to projects, whereas it received 20,956 € in donations, 2,348 € in membership fees and 1,774 € from other sources. The important operational deficit can be explained by the 6:1 ratio of earmarked donation vs non-earmarked, whereas we work on long-term basis with the projects we are supporting, or start initiatives on our own funds. The supported projects contribute to some of the 2015 targets of the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals.
  • Emergencies: Haiti & Mt Merapi
  • India: Mithra Foundation
  • Indonesia: YUM, education, children sponsorship, school libraries
  • DR Congo: Albadi (rebuilding after a fire) & Inkisi (new WCs) schools and     Yenge clinic (wall). Cooperation with Médecins d'Afrique (Community Health Centre).
  • Argentina: Tierraviva (including an advance on 2011)
  • Colombia: Amanecer, Las Obras Madres
  • Vietnam: helping SD Vietnam in supporting children in schools and hospitals, funding meals for destitute people in pagodas, rebuilding footbridges in the country.
  • New projects: supporting humanitarian initiatives from French members:
  • Taxi in Bamako (Mali)
  • Brick-making workshop in Kinshasa (DRC)
Future: Improving the communications, pursuing the long-standing relationships with projects, and getting more involved with Africa witha strong support to the joint-project with the NGO Médecins d'Afrique to transform the Lemba-Imbu infirmary into a self-supporting Community Health Centre.
