The purpose of SD France is to relieve human suffering and promote just and sustainable development through:
- Partnerships and support for grassroots, participatory development and humanitarian initiatives.
- Empowering individuals and communities to engage in positive human, social and economic change.
- Raising awareness of global issues and inter-dependence.
All monies are raised from the members of SD France.
In 2009 SD France spent 21,131 € on grants to projects, whereas it received 18,141 € in donations, 1,745 € in membership fees and 840 € from other sources. A 37,696 € bequest was received through a life-insurance that will help create permanent funds to support further projects and operations. The supported projects contribute to some of the 2015 targets of the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals.

- India: Mithra Foundation
- Indonesia: YUM, education, children sponsorship, school libraries
- DR Congo: School and clinics
- Argentina: Tierraviva
- Colombia: El Refugio, Amanecer Youth Camp
- Vietnam: helping a SD delegate to attend World Congress, helping SD Vietnam in supporting children in schools and hospitals, funding meals for destitute people in pagodas.
Future: Improving the communications, pursuing the long-standing relationships with projects, and getting more involved with Africa: helping to finance the building of a wall at the Yengé clinic, the toilets at the Inkisi school, rebuilding works in the Albadi school, and a strong support (5,000 €) to the joint-project with the NGO Médecins d'Afrique to transform the Lemba-Imbu infirmary into a self-supporting Community Health Centre. A Memorandum of Understanding is going to be signed between SD France and the Mohamed Subuh Foundation (MSF), allowing SD France to collect donations in France on behalf of the MSF and then to allocate the funds to humanitarian projects selected by the MSF.
